    On vacation in Morocco, the comedian had suffered a stroke on Wednesday August 16. He had been hospitalized and was in a coma. His publicist announced his death on Sunday August 20.

    Already victim of two strokes in the past

    In an interview with the media The Courier of the Atlas in September 2021, Wahid Bouzidi confided that he had suffered two strokes. The last one occurred in June 2021. Which did not prevent him from going back on stage a few months later when his doctors did not believe it.

    The actor and comedian was revealed in 2006 by the “Jamel Comedy Club”, a stand-up show. He had taken a few days off in August before resuming his tour, which began last January, on the occasion of his new one-man show.

    Stroke: the symptoms that should alert

    When questioned, Dr. Gérald Kierzek, emergency doctor and medical director of Doctissimo, recalls that stroke can affect anyone, and that it is an absolute emergency. A stroke occurs when blood flow to or in the brain is interrupted by a clogged blood vessel (ischemic stroke, the most common) or by a ruptured blood vessel (hemorrhagic stroke) which affects less than 15% of cases. The symptoms of stroke depend on the area of the brain affected and the extent of the damage.

    Remember that if you are facing a person who has a stroke, the acronym to remember is FAST :

    • Face, for paralysis that affects the face, sometimes just the mouth (ex: when the person smiles, the smile is not symmetrical);
    • A for Arm or arms in English, because the weakness of the arm is a sign of stroke (ex: when the person is asked to raise both arms in front of them, one of the arms cannot be raised or remain high, it falls);
    • S for Speech speech in English, because of the speech disorders that can occur during a stroke too (eg when the person is asked to repeat a sentence, they have difficulty speaking or understanding);
    • And finally T for Time, the time: you have to act quickly, even if these signs do not accumulate, they are temporary and return to normal after a certain time.

    If you witness any of these three signs, call 15 immediately. These symptoms may be accompanied by balance problems, severe headaches or loss of vision.

    “I would like to point out that it is the same thing for a TIA, or transient ischemic attack, because we tend to think that the person has recovered and is better because the symptoms disappear, but no, it is also absolutely necessary call 15” concludes the doctor.
