Comedian Andries Tunru performs in his own city I always

His show also contains Utrecht elements, about Leidsche Rijn for example. Because Utrecht has become his city. “I’ve always thought, later when I grow up I want to live in Utrecht. Now it’s finally time that I can call myself a resident of Utrecht. I think that’s really great. I’ll never leave. I always feel very understood by the Utrecht audience. In some strange way I have the idea that they look at the world the same way I do. Whether that’s in my head or not, I don’t know. But that plays very nicely, I can totally being myself and we understand each other. In my previous performance I had a whole piece about how difficult it is to take better care of the world, or to be a vegetarian because tofu is just very gross. If you tell that here in Utrecht, everyone thinks, yes I also try to eat less meat and I find that difficult too. But there are also places where people say, but then you just eat meat. Then the whole bottom disappears from under the scene. It’s about the struggle that internally you have between those two extremes.”
