Colombia’s military says its forces have killed 15 members of a guerrilla group that had left peace talks with the government.

About ten more people were injured in the operation last week in the western parts of the country, where the group oversees a growing drug trade, the military said.

The guerrillas were members of a unit led by Ivan Mordisco, who last week pulled out of peace talks after the group he had led until then – the General Staff Central (EMC) – split in two.

The EMC is a breakaway phalanx from the Farc guerrillas, and is led by rebels who did not accept the peace agreement that the Farc guerrillas signed in 2016 and then disarmed.
