The news of the children rescued after the plane crash spread around the world.

But now Colombian President Gustavo Petro poodles and takes back his words.

– I’m sorry. The search continues, he says.

On May 1, the Colombian airliner with seven passengers on board disappeared from radar without a trace.

An intensive search was launched in the Amazon jungle and on Wednesday evening, 17 days later, the country’s President Gustavo Petro stated that four children had been found alive.

– – After painstaking search efforts by our military forces, we have found the four children who disappeared due to the plane crash in Guaviare alive. A joy for the country, states the country’s president Gustavo Petro to local media.

But on Thursday, the president backed away from the data.

According to Petro, the children have not been found at all.

“I have decided to remove it because the information from the ICBF could not be confirmed. I’m sorry for what happened,” he writes on Twitter and continues:

“The military forces and the indigenous people will continue in their tireless quest to bring the country the news it is waiting for. At the moment there is no priority other than to continue the search until you find them. Children’s lives are the most important,” he writes.
