Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump wants the United States to remain in NATO, and for the defense alliance to be strong, according to Trump’s vice presidential candidate JD Vance.
– We would stay in NATO, he says.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the press”, however, Vance says that NATO countries need to carry their own burden.
– NATO is not a welfare client, it should be a real alliance.
Trump has previously complained about NATO and claimed that the NATO countries exploit and squander US resources.
During the interview, Vance avoids calling Russian President Vladimir Putin an “enemy”.
A van has collided with a TMA car, a vehicle used for road works, on the Öresund Bridge.

Bolivia’s former president Evo Morales says shots have been fired at the car he was traveling in on his way to a radio interview in the city of Cochabamba on Sunday. The driver was injured, according to Morales.
– The car I arrived in has 14 bullet holes, says Morales, adding:

On Facebook, he has posted his own film showing the shelling.

After checks against wholesalers all over Sweden, hundreds of tons of rice have been stopped, reports say Today’s News.
It is suspected that there has been quality fraud.

Among other things, pests were found during the inspection.
Only 5 percent of the rice was of the promised quality.
Five of the companies that were audited have been banned from selling.
A van has overturned and landed on the roof north of Orsa. One person has been taken to hospital by ambulance, reports P4 Dalarna.

One person has died after the boat accident on Storsjön at the height of Sandviken, the police write on their website.
Relatives have been notified.
It was in the morning that the alarm came to the rescue service that an oak tree had overturned.
Two people who had been in the boat raised the alarm themselves about the accident, but the third person had to be rescued from the water.
The people who rode in the boat were in their 60s and 70s.

The CIA, Mossad and Qatar’s prime minister are to meet on Sunday to negotiate a new short-term ceasefire agreement in Gaza, reports Reuters.

Israel again orders immediate evacuation for parts of southern Lebanon. This time it is about 14 locations, writes Avichay Adraee, spokesperson for Israel’s military, on X.
“For your own safety, you must immediately evacuate your homes and move to the northern part of the Awali River,” he writes according to AFP.
On Saturday night, Israel also carried out airstrikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs, Lebanon’s state news agency said shortly after midnight.
Before the attack, the Israeli military (IDF) ordered residents in the vicinity of two designated buildings in two different neighborhoods to evacuate immediately.
“You are close to Hezbollah installations and interests against which the IDF will operate in the near future,” an IDF spokesperson wrote on X late Saturday night.

The 18-year-old young woman who survived the car crash on Brändön in Luleå last week has suffered severe neck injuries, writes Norrbottenskuriren on Sunday.
She has been treated in hospital during the week, but it is unclear whether she will have permanent pain.
The woman has not yet been able to be questioned about the accident.
– It is going in the right direction, but the hearing will take place next week at the earliest, says preliminary investigation leader Erik Lampinen to the newspaper.
If the woman’s memories could be affected by the injuries, he says:
– Of course there is a risk that she doesn’t remember anything. Sometimes the memories can come much later as well, says the preliminary investigation leader.

A smaller oak with three people in it has capsized on Storsjön at the height of Sandviken.
One is seriously injured and was taken to hospital, according to the emergency services. The other two people had to be taken to hospital.
The people are in their 60s and 70s.
– Two people swam in and were able to alert us themselves, but one had to be picked up from the water, says Jimmy Andersson Taylor, emergency manager at Gästrike rescue service.
The reason behind the boat tipping is unclear, but it is windy on the lake, says Andersson Taylor.
At lunchtime, the emergency services announced that they were ready at the scene.
The alarm came in at half past ten on Sunday.
