The formation of a new council in municipalities is progressing considerably more slowly than after previous council elections. This is apparent from research by NRC in collaboration with the Association of Clerks. Last week, about one in three municipalities in the Netherlands had a new board, in 2018 that was still more than three quarters at the same time. In 2014 it was even almost 90 percent.
