Schools in Iran’s capital Tehran remain closed on Tuesday due to fuel shortages and cold weather.
Despite large energy resources of, among other things, natural gas, the regime in Iran has been forced to ration electricity in recent weeks. One reason is that the temperature around Iran was below freezing, which meant that schools and official government buildings were forced to close due to the cold.
President Masoud Pezeshkian apologized to the people of Iran for the energy problems, promising in his statement on state television that the shortage will be rectified next year.
An increased energy consumption by households due to the cold weather is cited as a reason for the rationing and that important power plants have been forced to close in whole or in part due to overconsumption, according to the state-run Irna news agency.
