The long-awaited update is finally here! After the developers announced at the beginning of the year that they would postpone Season 2 for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 by two weeks, there was a lot of frustration.
The new entry in the “Call of Duty” series started with a lot of hype, but it didn’t last as long as fans had hoped. The community criticized those changes that should distinguish the new “Call of Duty” title from its predecessors. But despite the criticism, CoD MW2 is extremely successful.
The time-to-kill is too low and the loot system in Warzone is too complicated. Backpacks and armor plates were criticized and the 2v2 gulag wasn’t well received either. It went so far that some voices within the community already copied Modern Warfare 2.
Many fans therefore hoped that Season 2 could turn the mood around again and in fact the hype grew again. But now that the content is finally playable, the question arises as to whether the anticipation was justified.

Warzone 2 – First impressions are positive
How are players reacting to the changes introduced in Season 2? Apart from a few dissenting voices, the first impression of the new season is positive. At the start, the servers struggled with a few technical problems, but even failures and crashes can’t really spoil the mood.
Already after the first game the difference feels like day and night!

Many users agree with this view. User u/__Dave_ notes that the Movement feels a lot smoother since the update. The game reacts faster and more sensitively to player input. He also likes the speed with which you can add armor plates since the update. It doesn’t go too fast, but it’s also not nearly as sluggish as before.
What does the community say about the new map? Here, too, the response from most players is positive. The community praises the design of the map. Resurgence mode is a welcome change from normal Warzone and DMZ. However, some players note that the distribution of the buy stations is not optimal, they are too concentrated in the middle of the map.
Yesterday there were still frequent crashes, especially on Ashika Island, and the armor plates were few and far between, but these problems should be fixed in the next few days. With regard to the armor plates, the developers have already made improvements and implemented a hotfix.
What does the community think of the changes to the DMZ? In the run-up to the update, there were many critical voices. Players complained that their progress should be reset. In the end, however, things turned out less badly than many feared.
Currently there seems to be another topic that is causing unrest anyway. Apparently, the AI is once again too strong. A criticism that hasn’t died down since the release. However, it is quite possible that the developers will soon make adjustments here, as they have often done in the past.

Multiplayer – players celebrate ranked mode, demand more content and regular updates
What things are praised by the community? Above all, changes to the user interface stand out here. Players praise the new menu navigation, such as the weapon camos. The old system was too complicated for many, the new menus are easier to navigate.
For many players, the ranked mode is a special highlight of Season 2. Players compete against each other in rated multiplayer matches. If you are successful, you will rise in the rankings. If you lose a lot, you go down again. You can also earn unique rewards in ranked mode.
How are the new cards received? With the launch of Season 2, two new 6vs6 maps, Dome and Museum, have been implemented. The Museums map was already playable in the beta, but was then removed, probably due to legal uncertainties. You should already be familiar with the Dome map from the Warzone, where it is a point of interest in the middle of the map.
The developers have already announced that they will release another 6v6 map with the Season 2 Mid-Season Update. They published a first impression of the map on Twitter.
The community praises the developers’ open and quick communication at the start of Season 2. They hope that CoD can continue the positive trend that started with the release of Season 2 in the coming weeks.
