In April, Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 celebrates its release. The developers have already announced things and leaks are already doing the rounds. We collect everything there is to know about content and the new update here on MeinMMO.
Call of Duty has evolved into a service franchise and regularly brings free new content and changes to the game through Seasons. Next is Season 3 and here is all the information known so far:
There is currently no roadmap or an official overview of Season 3. As soon as the developers publish more information, we will update the article accordingly.

CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: Season 3 – Update, Download, Preload
When is the Season 3 update coming? That can not be said 100%. But in most cases, the new season begins when the last season’s Battle Pass expires.
According to this, the start would be on April 12th or 13th, 2023, in the week after Easter.
How big will the update be? The currently little information makes a prediction difficult. Currently it looks more like a smaller update with a maximum of 10 GB.
Is there a preload? With the last major updates, a preload was always available a few hours before the start. But there was never an official announcement about it. So it’s possible that a preload is coming, but we can’t say for sure.
CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: Season 3 – Official Announcements
Season 1 ran forever and the start of Season 2 was postponed. As a result, the developers apparently felt obliged to publish Season 3 information, although this is very unusual:
That’s why we already know some of the highlights from Season 3:
What is firefight? This is a new mode with its own small maps that offer you 2vs2 battles. This ultimate buddy mode was hugely popular in CoD MW 2019 and is finally coming to CoD MW2 too.
What is booty money? This was the mode alongside the battle royale in Warzone 1. The focus here is on collecting the most cash and not the most kills. Because loot has respawns enabled, the mode is also great for weapon leveling.
What are Warzone ranked matches? The new SBMM mode for Warzone 2. Players are thrown into a match together based on their skill ranking. Other matchmaking factors play a less important role. Here is more information about CoD matchmaking.
CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: Season 3 – Leaks
Dataminers have already been diligently trawling through the data that came into play with Mid-Season 2 and claim to have found quite a bit. Please keep in mind – this section is all about leaks, this is not officially confirmed information.
Story characters Valeria, Alejandro and Alex could come as playable operators. Accordingly, placeholders in the game give an indication of this. It is assumed that the three operators will be distributed over Seasons 3 and 4 (via twitter.com).
Some clues were found here that could be related to new weapons. However, it is unclear which weapons are behind them or when and if they will be released. A rumor currently suggests that the FR 5.56 (Famas) could come with Season 3.
There is evidence of a new faction system. So it should have a greater impact which factions you have already worked closely with. This not only brings new missions, but the AIs of the factions on the map are more friendly to you and there could be special purchase stations that belong to a faction (via twitter.com).
In addition, a leak has been haunting the web for some time, based on allegedly leaked documents from CoD publisher Activision. These documents are intended to show the rough content that will come into play by Season 6. This is the list for Season 3:
CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: Season 3 – Battle Pass
When does the Battle Pass start? Along with Season 3, probably mid-April.
You exchange game time for exclusive cosmetics that are only available via the respective Battle Pass of a season. The pass costs 1,100 CoD points (around €10) and lets you earn over 100 items, including cosmetics, but also XP tokens and up to 1,400 CoD points.
There are also a few free tiers that all players can unlock, including the new weapons. But most levels are behind the 1,100 CoD Points paywall.

What’s in the Battle Pass? Each Battle Pass offers you different items. But here is an overview of the item types that can be included in the pass:
