After 3 years, Call of Duty is revising its Battle Pass for the new shooters Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2. You now have more control over the unlockable items and can even bag more CoD points than before. MeinMMO explains the new system in detail.
Hardly any live service game can do without it: the Battle Pass. You exchange game time for in-game items or premium currency and pay for the pass once per live season.
The highlight is that the items in the Battle Pass would be significantly more expensive individually. While some CoD cosmetic bundles cost 20 euros and deliver 8 items, you get over 100 items in the Battle Pass, but only pay around 10 euros for them. But you have to play the game to get the items.
With CoD MW2 and Warzone 2, the Battle Pass is being revised, it now works less linearly. We embed the trailer for you and explain the details of the new Battle Pass system below:
CoD MW2 & Warzone 2: New Battle Pass System
The Call of Duty Battle Pass costs 1,000 CoD Points, which is pretty much 10 euros. Some levels are free, such as the new weapons. But most of them are behind this payment barrier.
It used to be linear – the Battle Pass had 100 levels and you ran through the so-called “tiers” from 1 to 100.
With Warzone 2 and CoD MW2 things are different now. You unlock “Battle Token Tier Skips”, you have a kind of map in front of you and you can unlock the sectors one after the other.
Each sector on the Battle Pass map has 5 items to unlock – when a sector is full, you unlock new sectors. The 5th item is always the best in a sector. Once you have completed all sectors of the map, you unlock the last sector, which spits out extra rewards.
So you can go your own way and if you particularly like an item, you walk the sectors in that direction. Apparently they were inspired by Fortnite.
Do I absolutely need CoD MW2 to play Warzone 2.0?
Furthermore, the Battle Pass will be more worthwhile for those who play a lot. Whereas there used to be 1,300 CoD points to unlock, in the new system there are 1,400. If you level through the pass, you make a profit of 400 CoD points.
A little hint: If you’ve played the Battle Pass to the brim but haven’t bought it yet, always buy this thing. You then exchange the 1,000 CoD points directly for 1,400 CoD points.
As soon as the Battle Pass is online, you will find a short overview article with the content on MeinMMO. You can expect the following items:
