Please note: The Season 1 roadmap is not online yet, but the developers have already revealed some information as part of the release. As soon as there are more details, we will expand the article accordingly.

CoD MW2: Season 1 – Launch and Download

When does CoD MW2 season 1 start? The start is on November 16th – but that is very likely the case for the US version. With us, the start should be on November 17th, from experience around 6 a.m.

How big is the download? So far, no statement can be made on this. If you only want to load the new content for the multiplayer, count on a maximum of 10 GB. However, if even larger changes are added, this can also go up quite a bit.

Is there a preload? We expect that there will be a preload. At the moment, however, it is not possible to say for sure.

What’s in Season 1? You will find many details about this in the course of the article. Here is a small overview:

  • Battle Pass
  • Hardcore Mode (Tier 1)
  • Warzone 2.0 with DMZ mode
  • New Missions Spec Ops
  • There is already information about the mid-season. It starts on December 14th and should bring PvE raids for 3 players.

CoD MW2: Season 1 – Release Season Content

What content is coming in Season 1? An overview with the specific content for November 16 is not yet available. But we already know about the following innovations:

So far, 1 new map for 6vs6 and a new mission for the co-op mode Spec-Ops are certain. You can find more information about Warzone 2.0 and the Battle Pass below. In addition, content for Mid-Season 1 has already been announced, which we will also list below.

What weapons could come? Dataminers are already very sure which weapons are coming up in Season 1. However, there are no guarantees. The following weapons are on the leak note for the entire Season 1:

  • Assault Rifle: Chimera – Design matches the real Honey Badger weapon
  • Submachine Gun: BAS-P – Design corresponds to the real weapon “Sig Sauer MPX”
  • Assault Rifle: M13B – Used in Battlefield 2042 as the M5A3
  • Sniper Rifle: Victus XMR – The AWP designation may mean something to some
  • Currently, it’s pretty certain that two of the weapons will end up in the Battle Pass.

    CoD MW2: Season 1 – Warzone 2.0

When will Warzone 2.0 start? So far, November 16th is scheduled for the Warzone release, which probably corresponds to November 17th in our time zone.

Will Warzone 2.0 be free? Yes, Warzone 2.0 will again be a free Battle Royale that you start via Modern Warfare 2. You don’t need to buy MW2 for this.

What to expect Warzone 1 was actually only planned for one year, which led to some problems in the free battle royale. With Warzone 2.0, the developers want to do it better and at the same time change a lot of what made the old Warzone special.

But that’s not entirely certain yet. Many streamers were already allowed to play at the “CoD: Next” event and there was a lot of gameplay and information about Warzone 2.0. However, the developers have also emphasized that they want to include player feedback after the launch.

For example, it was planned that there would be no more loadout drops that you could use to get your equipment during a match. There are now reports that the loadouts will be in the game after all – but that’s not certain.

You can read about the upcoming changes in our big Warzone 2.0 special. The new map is already there, we’ll include it here:

What is DMZ mode? So far there’s no word on loot mode in Warzone 2.0 – but that’s where DMT mode comes into play for sure.

This is CoD’s first foray into the extraction shooter market. It’s a PvEvP mode similar to Escape from Tarkov or Hunt: Showdown.

You will be let out somewhere on the map, complete quests, collect loot and try to get out of the map alive. If you don’t do this, your collected items are gone. Not only NPCs get in your way – real players can also target you.

CoD Warzone 2.0 will be a whole new Battle Royale – release, map and DMZ mode

    CoD MW2: Season 1 – Battle Pass

When does the Battle Pass start? Along with Season 1 on November 16th. If you have bought the Vault Edition, you will also go straight up a few levels.

What is the Battle Pass? You exchange game time for exclusive cosmetics that are only available via the respective Battle Pass of a season. The pass is expected to cost 1,000 CoD points (around €10) and will allow you to earn over 100 items, including cosmetics, but also XP tokens or CoD points.

There are also a few free tiers that all players can unlock, including the new weapons. But most tiers are behind the 1,000 CoD Points paywall.

What’s in the Battle Pass? Since it’s the first Battle Pass of CoD MW2, we can’t say for sure yet. From the experiences of the last few years you can expect the following items:

  • 2 new weapons for Warzone
  • A new operator
  • Legendary rewards upon completion of the pass
  • Lots of operator skins with missions for even more skins
  • Cosmetics such as business cards, emblems, sprays and talismans
  • Vehicle items such as battle songs or skins
  • XP token for an experience point boost
  • 10% experience boost on the Battle Pass
  • 1,300 CoD points
  • In recent years it has always been the case that you have been able to earn more CoD points than the pass cost. A very fair system, but one that requires many hours of play time.

Who will be the poster boy / poster girl of season 1? Each season focuses on one or more operators who simultaneously advance the story. There’s no info on that yet, but we’re counting on CoD villain Makarov.

    CoD MW2: Season 1 – Mid Season

When does Mid Season 1 start? The release date is December 14th, which could be December 15th in our time zone.

What’s coming in mid-season? One of the big new features of CoD MW2 starts – raids for the co-op mode Spec-Ops. These are 3 player activities with challenging puzzles, tough fights and long gameplay of over an hour or more.

What that looks like in detail remains open so far.

Otherwise, the developers have made the following statements about the mid-season:

  • Another legendary multiplayer map
  • First update for Warzone 2.0
  • That was all the current information about the first season of Modern Warfare 2. If you have any questions or want to express your opinion about Season 1, leave a comment on the topic.
