Cocaine seizures on the rise in Colombia | News in brief

The Colombian armed forces said on Tuesday that in 2024, the country seized about 35 percent more cocaine than the previous year.

In the current year, a total of 626 tons of cocaine were seized.

According to the UN, Colombia is the world’s largest producer of cocaine. In 2022, the country produced more cocaine than ever before, 2,600 tons, according to UN estimates.

Most of the cocaine is sold to the North American and European markets.
