Cobra Kai ends after Season 6 but theres good news

The bad forebodings have been confirmed: Cobra Kai will only get one last season, as Netflix announced on Friday. The streaming service acquired the Karate Kid series from YouTube Premium after two seasons. In the new home it developed into a mass success. Three seasons were created in less than three years. But after Season 6 it’s over. You can see a first announcement teaser here.

When does Cobra Kai season 6 start?

Cobra Kai – S06 Announcement (English) HD

Netflix has not yet announced a date for season 6. But it shouldn’t take too long. The streaming service speaks of an “imminent” start. However, we don’t even know if filming has even started. A start at the end of the year therefore only seems realistic.

What is season 6 about?

Eagle Fang and Myagi Do signed up for that international karate tournament Sakai Taikai qualified. This competition on the largest possible stage should provide the framing for Season 6. The first half could be devoted to preparation, the second to the competition itself Return of John Kreese after his Hannibal-Lecter-esque outburst brings additional spice. Is season 6 really the end of the Karate Kid universe?

No, absolutely not. As is so often the case, the end of a series does not mean the end of the franchise. In a joint statement, Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg said: “We hope to share more Karate Kid stories with you soon.”

Because just like Breaking Bad or Game of Thrones, Cobra Kai can be continued with spin-offs dedicated to new corners of the karate universe. Showrunner Hayden Schlossberg said while he and his team are focused on Cobra Kai, they already have spin-off ideas in mind.
