The Swedish ladies won six of six possible gold in the World Cup.
After the humiliation, the next tuck comes for Norway.
National team coach Sjur Ole Svarstad says it will be a major challenge to find Norwegian skiers who can measure their powers with them in the future.
– The Swedes are not so old and will surely continue to be at the top of the world, he tells VG.
One can really say that Jonna Sundling; 30, Ebba Andersson27, and Frida Karlsson25, destroyed the Norwegian World Cup party in Trondheim. The trio showed no mercy when they went home gold medal after gold medal.
Therese Johaug won no World Cup gold
When the championship was summed up, it was found that the Swedes had 6-0 in the Norwegians, an incredible win for the blue-yellow! Closest to challenging Ebba and Frida was the veteran Therese Johaug36, who made a comeback only to take a World Cup gold in the five-mile. She was very close to taking gold in both the Skiathlonen and the 10-kilometer race, but she leaves Trondheim with three silver medals and one bronze.

Norway’s national team coach Sjur Ole Svarstad43, tells VG that they were very bad luck in several of the competitions. On the men’s side it went incredibly well, especially for Johannes Hösflot Kläbo28, who won six World Cup golds in Trondheim, but for the ladies it was no more than “close” a couple of times.
– I experience in a way that the result is a bit misleading. I feel that we have been there all the way and been damn close to many distances. I’m proud of the Norwegian girls, he says.
Concerns for the Swedes in the future
However, he does not want to take the Swedes’ incredible performance during the championship.
– We have to take off the hat for Jonna Sundling, Ebba Andersson and Frida Karlsson. Sweden has a generation they probably never had before. We meet fantastic competitors. I pay tribute to them rather than be disappointed in the Norwegians. We have given them a struggle all the way into the goal, says Svarstad.

When now Johaug ends again for good and rider who Astrid Öyre Slind37, and Heidi Weng33, has become to the years, Norway must rely on a new generation of riders. Name like Tiril Udnes Weng; 28, Kristin Austgule Fosnäs; 24, Kristine Stavås Skistad26, and Nora Sanness24, has emerged in recent years. Sjur Ole Svarstad is worried that it will be difficult for Norway to challenge the already established Swedish stars in the coming years.
– The Swedes are not so old and will surely continue to be in the world top. We have a challenge with having skiers who can challenge them on their maximum days, he says.
So wonderful that all of Norway has been afraid of you, Jonna, Frida & Ebba! You were absolutely incredible in the World Cup and really deserved all the successes. We are so proud of your super Swedes!
