COA wants emergency shelter in Woerden for 200 asylum seekers

The building was vacant for years and was going to be demolished for housing. Last year it was decided not to demolish the building, but to renovate it. Ukrainian refugees have been received there since 2022, and there are plans for an asylum seeker center for fifteen years. That is different from emergency shelter. Tomorrow the Woerden municipal council will make a decision about conducting a feasibility study into those plans for the asylum seekers’ center.
