Club icon Jonas Bergqvist’s strong reaction after the chaos in Leksand: “I’m terrified”

There is great confusion at Leksand right now.
Which has caused great concern for club icon Jonas Bergqvist.
“I am sad and appalled,” he admits on social media.

Leksands IF is in a really precarious situation right now. The SHL team has for the second time this summer been forced to postpone its annual meeting without having agreed on a new club board, which causes great concern.

Leksand’s chaos

At the end of June, the annual meeting was adjourned for the first time and this day it was time again when the members did not agree. Members of the company board have also received both threats and harassment, according to information from the local newspaper Falu-Kuriren.

Leksand is now considering filing a police report, while a third annual meeting must be scheduled shortly to find a new solution. At the same time as the SHL season is fast approaching, the club is currently seriously divided and is without a board chairman.

Now he follows the whole situation in the favorite team with horror.
“I am saddened and dismayed when I follow the development of a club I have had in my heart since I was 12 years old. Had the privilege of being a player for 17 years, marketing manager for 4 and club director for 7. The tone that was raised during this process leads to threats and harassment,” he writes on X (formerly Twitter).
“That it would happen was quite expected. Many people want to follow someone they look up to and the harsher the tone becomes, there will always be people who cannot draw a dividing line between what is ok and what is not. That is why it is so important when you are in a leadership position that you understand that you are a role model”.

Bergqvist, with a total of 272 international matches for Tre Kronor, believes that this rift will take a long time to heal for Leksand.
“I am terrified of the long-term consequences. For the first time ever, I feel that I am losing interest and passion for something that has been a part of me for large parts of my life,” he admits on X.
“I hope I’m alone in that. If not, we live dangerously”.
