One person had to be picked up by ambulance helicopter at Simonberget south of Nyköping and taken to hospital on Friday evening.

According to Södermanland’s Nyheter, it is about a man who has fallen from the mountain, a common place for climbing. The circumstances surrounding the accident are unclear. The man’s injury status is also not clear.

– It is incredibly rare that this kind of thing happens, but unfortunately it does happen sometimes. There is an enormous amount of climbing on Simonberget, and in relation to how much is climbed, these accidents are very unusual, says Andreas Andersson, safety manager at the Swedish Climbing Association, to SN.

According to Andreas Andersson, the man fell about 20 metres.

This weekend, the annual Tunaberg meeting is arranged at Simonberget. It is unclear how the event is affected by the accident.
