The volcanic eruption on the island of Sumatra in Indonesia has affected several climbers and volcano hikers.
According to the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, around 40 are missing.
“28 people have been evacuated and efforts are being made to evacuate the rest,” they write in a press release.

Ash rose to a height of three kilometers and 42 people are believed to be in the area.

“The Nature Conservation Agency is conducting an evacuation. 28 people have been evacuated and efforts are being made to evacuate the rest,” the agency announced on Sunday afternoon.
At the time of the eruption, about 70 people had reported visiting the area over the weekend.
The outbreak occurred at 3 p.m. local time and the Environmental Protection Agency is trying to locate where the people may be.
During the search, they found that some climbers did not announce whether they had left the area or not. Therefore, it is difficult to know exactly how many are affected.

Evacuation will continue during the evening. At present, no information on injuries has been reported.
