Climate activists refused to board flights – now required a late fee by Sas

Last minute The world stood up after Putins decision in

It was in February this year that the plane would take off from Malmö airport and fly to Stockholm. But when the security demonstration had begun, two women stood up and began to give a speech, while the captain repeatedly asked them to sit down.

The two women, 28 and 69 years old, are climate activists in the Extinction rebellion.

Had to be carried out – required on delay costs

After a while, they sat down in the hallway. A security guard had to carry out one of the women while the other voluntarily went out after pressure from the staff.

The plane was delayed by 37 minutes and now Sas wants compensation of just over SEK 27,600 for delay costs. An Sas employee told, among other things, in an interrogation that there were major consequences in the form of rebooking of tickets and consequential delays of other flights.

The women are also charged with violating the Civil Aviation Act.

Aroused irritation in passengers

During questioning, the suspects have denied the crime.

– I claim self-defense. Because we are in a climate crisis, after which I need to act. Following the law to the letter is not always morally right, one of the accused women said in interrogation.

The preliminary investigation shows that several passengers must have been annoyed by the action. The elderly woman has said in interrogation:

– It was not so easy to give the speech because there were several who protested. The captain or someone shouted out different things, so much of what we said was probably not heard.
