Climate action at Stora Enso in Skutskär – SVT on site

This weekend, a climate camp with several activist groups was on site in Gävle. According to information to SVT Uppsala, several of the participants are part of the autonomous left and the goal of the action is to prevent production for one day.

On the camp’s social media, it says that the group was behind a mass action against Cementa 2022.

Quiet place

According to SVT’s on-site reporter David Rydell, the mood has been calm during the morning. On site are 20 to 30 demonstrators in white suits and three police officers watching from a distance. At eight o’clock the protesters began to block a gate to prevent trucks from entering the mill area.

In a press release Stora Enso writes that they will not respond to the activist organizations in the media, but points out that all operations “comply with current laws and regulations and that this of course also includes forestry and human rights”.
