All her life she has struggled with people not being kind to her.
Everyone in the Idol jury is touched when she shares her story.
– I’ve felt like I want to hide all the time, people laugh at me. They don’t even try to hide it, says Cleo in “Idol”.
Cleo Ekelund, 17, one of the applicants in this year’s “Idol”. In Saturday’s episode, it gets emotional for both her and the jury as she shares her life story during her audition. Cleo, who was born at 27 weeks, has a bone disease and has spent a lot of time in hospital over the years.
But what has been most difficult has been other people’s opinions.
– I have a bone disease called CCD. It mainly affects my appearance and my teeth, says Cleo.
– During my life I have struggled with people who were not so kind. Still now in high school, people laughing at you, she continues.
“I’ve felt like hiding all the time”
All four jury members are affected by hearing about what Cleo was, and still is, involved in.
– I’ve always had anxiety about going on municipal transport. It’s always on the train… I often try to hide. There are many people who look at me, talk to their friends and laugh at me and film me. It has been hard, says Cleo.
– I’ve felt like I want to hide all the time, people laugh at me. They don’t even try to hide it. It hurts my heart so much, I get physical pain, she continues.
Something that has helped her through difficult times is music – and now her voice is taking her through to the final audition in Idol. She gets four yeses from the jury.
– When I have moments of anxiety and feel like a python, I can turn to something I’m passionate about. I can feel that I have something to share, says Cleo.
