Stina Nilsson will now make her debut in her new sport.
After cross-country skiing and biathlon, it is now time for long-distance running.
Then comes a clear warning to the Swede before the first race.
The time has come Stina Nilsson to make a debut in yet another new skiing sport. This weekend, the Swedish 31-year-old does his very first competition as a long-distance skier in Bad Gastein.
Stina changes sports
Nilsson became one of the world’s best sprinters and won twelve Olympic and World Cup medals in cross-country skiing. Then she switched sports to biathlon instead in 2020 to get a new challenge in her career.

But the change was far too big of an adjustment for Stina, who had to struggle a lot. After four seasons, she felt ready and hung the rifle on the famous shelf.
The words to Nilsson
Now a new exciting time awaits this winter with competitions in Ski Classics. One person who knows exactly what it’s like to switch to long-distance running is the former national team skier Hanna Falknow skiing expert at Radiosporten.
She gives her clear words to Stina Nilsson ahead of this weekend’s debut.
– I think that Stina will win races already this season. One must have high expectations of Stina Nilsson and she always has her eyes on her. But I think it takes some time to get hardened and learn how the tactics work, says Falk to the radio channel.
– It is something to tackle these tough uphills that they have to get through in many races.

Hanna Falk is convinced why Nilsson has switched to long-distance running as a 31-year-old.
– I think she is doing this for her own sake and is taking on this challenge. I switched to long-distance running myself and know how much fun it is to face something new and train in a different way to challenge yourself. It is the journey that I think Stina is passionate about, but then when she stands on the starting line, she will want to win the races, says the expert in his analysis.
