The issue has been on the agenda in the regional council several times, and despite criticism from the opposition, it is now clear that the region is raising ticket prices in public transport.
– You often talk about protecting children and young people, but in this decision you do the opposite, says opposition councilor Ulla Andersson (V).
The increase applies to all tickets except for pensioners.
– Children and young people have been prioritized here, and we think that is wrong, she adds.
“Economy in balance”
– Saving money is never fun, but it is necessary if we want to invest in public transport in the future. Getting an economy in balance is an important first step, says regional councilor Alexander Hägg (M).
Development in public transport is still ongoing. Among other things, Sandviken will get a new city traffic at the end of 2023.
