Clear: Ricciardo back in F1

Eight-time grand prix winner Ricciardo left McLaren at the end of last season, but has remained part of the F1 scene as Red Bull’s reserve driver.

But now it is clear that the 34-year-old will drive for Alpha Tauri for the rest of the season. His first race will be the Hungarian Grand Prix later this month.

“There is no doubt about his driving ability, and he already knows many of us, so his integration will be simple and straightforward. The stable will benefit greatly from his experience,” says stable manager Franz Tost.

Ricciardo’s last GP victory was at Monza, Italy, in 2021.
