Cleaning window frames doesn’t seem like a particularly fun task. However, with the right home remedies, you can quickly make your plastic window frames sparkling clean again.
It’s common to forget to clean the frames when cleaning windows. But unattractive “layers of dirt” can quickly form on the frames themselves. How, then, can we regain the original whiteness of PVC window frames? Before cleaning, it is advisable to free window frames of surface dirt, such as soot or dust. Otherwise, remaining dirt particles can damage the surface. To do this, simply use a slightly damp cotton cloth and wipe it over the surfaces. Caution: Don’t forget the gaps and joints either. You can best reach them with an old toothbrush or a dampened cotton swab.
Cleaning plastic window frames is very simple, as they are durable and easy to maintain. To clean a plastic frame, use vinegar or vinegar essence. The acid in vinegar dissolves even stubborn dirt on the window frame. Simply mix vinegar in a ratio of 1:5 with hot water. Next, soak a soft cotton cloth with the mixture and apply it to the window frame. Leave on for a few minutes then wipe with a clean cotton cloth.
As an alternative to vinegar, you can also use citric acid. The acid dissolves grease and dirt, making the window frame sparkling white again. Additionally, citric acid also gives off a pleasant smell. To do this, mix liquid citric acid with water. Next, dip a sponge into the liquid and clean the window frames. Citric acid should act for several minutes. Then wipe carefully with a damp cloth.
The final technique is to use white toothpaste to clean and re-whiten the window frames. Apply a little white toothpaste to a slightly damp cleaning sponge. You can then rub the toothpaste in circular motions onto the plastic frame, using light pressure. Leave to act briefly, then remove the residue with a damp cloth.
