The actress and comedian spoke about the history of her first name. Her father, a fan of a famous actress named Claudia, was refused the initial first name by the French administration. “We told him no!”…
Bearing the first name of a personality who has marked the history of cinema or song is always a source of pride. Often, parents are such fans of an actress or actor that they decide to give their child the same first name. This is the case of Claudia Tagbo who bears a first name in homage to a famous Italian actress and model that her father admired. The 50-year-old comedian, starring in the film Karaoke alongside Michelle Laroque, released in theaters on March 20, spoke to Thomas Isle on Europe 1, about the history of his first name. On this occasion, Claudia Tagbo revealed a funny anecdote.
During the interview, the latter made him listen to a soundtrack from the film Cartouche released in 1962, with the voice of Claudia Cardinale, telling Claudia Tagbo “It seems that it is to her that you owe your first name“. The comedian then confirms the information and explains that his father wanted to call him after the actress who is now 85 years old. And for good reason, he was a fan of her and still is today. At the time , nothing could therefore prevent him from naming his daughter as he saw fit, except the French administration, at the time of the declaration of the child’s first name.
But then, why was Claudia Tagbo’s dad refused to give his daughter Claudia’s first name? Quite simply because he planned to call her exactly like the actress, namely “Claudia Cardinale Tagbo”. “I was supposed to call myself Claudia Cardinale at the base, but they told her no: ‘We must remove the Cardinale, please sir.’ He wanted to keep it…“, she confided on the air.
The actress who had fun with the story of her first name also confided to Télé Loisirs that she did not regret not having become a mother. “It didn’t happen, it’s like that. Now, it’s become a choice. For ten years I’ve lived it as such. I don’t have children, that’s it, let’s move on thing. It’s not the end of the world (…) Now, it’s too late,” she declared.
