Classics women reset TPS in the second act of the

Classic’s goalkeeper Juulia Kataja zeroed out TPS women’s floorball in the 2nd final of the F-League, when the team from Tampere tied the match wins at 1-1 in Turku.

Tampereen Classic kept the TPS players in its grip and regained the home advantage in the women’s floorball finals series, when the team claimed a 5-0 away victory over Turku Palloseura on Sunday.

With this win, the winner of the regular season regained the home advantage, and the series continues on Monday with a 1-1 draw at Classic’s home field in Lempäälä.

– Our defensive game was successful, and we were able to block shots quite easily. We were able to run the game on all the pitches and we got the opponent’s energy down, explained Classic’s head coach Jarkko Rinne.

As Classic’s scorer in the playoffs, messed up Suvi Hämäläinen dominated the guests to take the lead midway through the opening set.

In the final set, the 20-year-old Hämäläinen added to the Tampere team’s lead from the corner of the goal Natalia Longcloth gave a button input. The goal was already Hämäläinen’s thirteenth in the playoffs. The final figures are sealed Veera Vileniuswho hit an empty net twice at the end of the set.

– The game went quite well, although the home team also had their place. But luck has to be earned, and that’s what we earned today. We scored from the places we had to take advantage of, Hämäläinen was happy.

– Now we have to reset the situation quickly, because the series continues already on Monday.

The team from Turku, which is aiming for its third consecutive championship, was unable to stop the Classic’s number one chain on Sunday.

– We were a bit of a chaser, and we couldn’t score in our own good moments. A goal in the opening set would certainly have changed the nature of the game. Classic was clearly ahead of us, that has to be accepted, TPS head coach Aki Vilander regretted.

– The situation should be easy for our players, and there should be no tension. However, we couldn’t get a replacement on the field from the sick person, so we had to work with rather limited material. On Monday, we have to get to the driver’s place right from the start, because our game runs best in the lead position, Vilander said.
