Last spring’s silver team Classic beat the champion Oilers 6–4 in the F-League.

Classic Samuli Leppäniemi and Teemu Karpanen got to collect the balls in honor of the first league goals, when last spring’s silver team defeated the champion Oilers 6–4 at home in Lempäälä.
Leppäniemi scored the opening goal of the evening in the back corner, and Karppanen made it 4–0 from a counterattack midway through the game.
Classic seemed for a long time to run away to a clear victory today. However, the Oilers came within a goal in the third period when Heikki Iiskola narrowed down to 4–5.
Three minutes before the end, Classic sent a long ball from its own end, Oskari Heikkilä moved the defender across the neck as well and Ville Hietarantana a direct knuckle shot found its way into the net of the front post as well as the Oilers goalie returning from injury Markus Laakson between.
Heikkilä was the Classic’s most efficient player with one goal and two assists.
