CK records 49th death due to COVID 19

Chatham-Kent has recorded its 49th death due to COVID-19, public health officials say.

The death was confirmed Wednesday while another was reported the previous day.

There are currently 19 people in hospital, including nine patients primarily being treated for COVID-19, according to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Four are in intensive care.

As of Wednesday, there were six ongoing outbreaks in the community, with no new ones reported.

Twenty-nine new cases were confirmed in Chatham-Kent, taking into account testing capacity. The seven-day rolling average was 46 squares.

Provincially, there were 3,909 new cases reported, with 2,939 people in hospital. A total of 56 per cent were admitted for COVID-19, while 44 were admitted for other reasons but have tested positive.

A total of 555 people were in intensive care.
