Can this movement, which calls for the cancellation of the vote, take hold and last over time? In any case, this is what its organizers are hoping for, reports our special correspondent Jelena Tomic. At the origin of this movement, a citizen initiative of personalities from the world of culture, actors, writers and musicians, as well as academics who, without political label, hope to bring together as many people as possible, including those disappointed with opposition which is struggling to convince part of the population.

The meeting is at noon on the central square of Terazije. A symbolic place: it is here that major demonstrations against the regime of Slobodan Milosevic repressed by the police in 1991 and 1992, then in 96 and 97, when half a million people succeeded in forcing Milosevic to submit, who ended up recognizing his defeat in Belgrade to the benefit of the opposition. For more than thirty years, entire generations of Serbs have been fighting against their authoritarian regime.
The organizers hope that people from the provinces will make the trip to the capital, to initiate a radical turning point in this crisis and avoid a loss of steam for the movement.
