The city is considering changing their street name to Longboat Run East and will soon be seeking feedback from affected homeowners.

At present, Longboat Run goes from Hunter Way to Conklin Road before continuing as Longboat Run West from Conklin Road to Gillespie Drive. The street names have caused problems for delivery truck drivers and residents of Longboat Run.
“This particular situation has been an ongoing problem for a lot of people who didn’t get deliveries or who have had their deliveries dropped off at the wrong address,” Coun. Michael Sullivan (Ward 1) told councilors at a recent council committee meeting.
The problem reached a new level when medication ordered by a woman with mobility issues was delivered to the wrong house, Sullivan said.

Councilors supported a resolution initiated by Sullivan to consult with property owners on Longboat Run about renaming the street to Longboat Run East. The resolution, which also calls for a staff report following the consultation process, was approved by councilors at the March 26 meeting of city council.
There are 10 municipal addresses on Longboat Run.
Councilors also voted in favor of applying the same approach to Morton Avenue and Morton Avenue East if the work on Longboat Run is successful.
Speaking at the committee meeting, Coun. Greg Martin said residents living on Morton Avenue have a similar problem to those living on Longboat Run.
Delivery truck drivers often end up on Morton Avenue, a residential area that is west of West Street instead of Morton Avenue East, an industrial area of the city.

Martin said the idea would be to change Morton Avenue to Morton Avenue West and leave Morton Avenue East alone.
“We had a situation where we had an infill house going in on Morton Avenue and their items were delivered to Morton Avenue East where there’s only one duplex right near West Street,” Martin said. “The individual who received the delivery resold the items and the person who ordered and paid for them was out some significant money for items that were delivered to the wrong address.
“I think this is something that would go a long way to addressing that kind of problem.”
