Slovaks are therefore mobilizing against their government to participate in the Czech initiative “munitions for Ukraine”. The new Slovak government refuses to contribute to the Ukrainian war effort – thousands of Slovak citizens have decided otherwise by contributing to a new crowdfunding campaign.

More than two million euros donated by more than 30,000 people: the initiative launched four days ago in Slovakia is already a great success and far exceeds the objectives initially stated by a collective bringing together personalities from the world of culture, former resistance fighters and other citizens displaying their disagreement with foreign policy of their current government.

Ammunition for Ukraine. Without the government we send them » is the slogan of this fundraising organized by the Peace for Ukraine collective and the money raised must contribute to the Czech authorities’ project aimed at pooling the purchase of hundreds of thousands of shells from third countries to supply them to the Ukrainian army currently in great difficulty facing the Russian invader.

Around twenty governments have already officially announced their contribution to this Czech plan, but not the Slovak government coalition with pro-Russian tendencies led by Robert Fico.

This crowdfunding, supported by the outgoing Slovak president, has already exceeded the contribution announced by the Icelandic government. This campaign is organized in collaboration with the Czech initiative called “A Gift for Putin” and one of the previous collections had already raised several hundred thousand euros to provide Ukraine with a demining vehicle.
