Cinema: Volker Schlöndorff in the footsteps of Tony Rinaudo with “The Forest Maker”

The Forest Maker », this is how the world knows the Australian agronomist Tony Rinaudo, winner of the alternative Nobel Prize in 2018. At the initiative of a movement of massive reforestation of the arid lands of Niger, his ambition is to give back life on land that was once arable, since ravaged by intensive agriculture practiced on a large scale since colonization. German director Volker Schlöndorff (who won a Palme d’Or for The drum) followed him when he returned to Niger and made a documentary-essay entitled The man who raises the trees.
