The series will be based on the same story as the drama from 1988: About Salvatore, or Toto as he is called, his great passion for cinema, and the friendship with the machinist Alfredo at the local cinema – but with new expanded parts.
Tornatore, who wrote and directed the original, will do the same with the six-part series. According to producer Marco Belardi, negotiations are underway with an American streaming service for the rights to the series. He does not yet want to reveal which one it is.
