In recent decades, there have been so many biopics about bands and artists that it’s hard to remember them all straight off the bat. Ray Charles, Edith Piaf, Monica Z, NWA, Nina Simone and Amy Winehouse are just a few of those dedicated to a biopic.
Some are better than others, but what most have in common is that they become quite predictable. Despite upheaval and dramatic life stories, still no more than from point A to point B.
The critics’ favorite in the genre is Todd Haynes’ “I’m not there” (2007), where six different actors don the role of Bob Dylan.
Incidentally, Dylan will soon get another biopic. In “A complete unknown”, Timothée Chalamet will transform into Dylan, he will also sing.
But next time it should be Adam Sandler who plays him. It’s great. He can sing, did well in “The wedding singer” (1998). It might be a bit strange. But no weirder than Dylan getting the Nobel Prize.
More on Sam Mendes’ four Beatles films in the clip, and who should play Bruce Springsteen instead of Jeremy Allen White.
