At the heart of this new opus: James, a man plagued by the loss of Mary, the love of his life. When he receives a mysterious letter seeming to come from her, he returns to Silent Hill, a city now transformed by an evil force. Her quest to find her leads her into a psychological nightmare populated by disturbing creatures and buried truths. The film promises a darker atmosphere and more faithful to the spirit of the original game, with the highly anticipated return of the composer Akira Yamaka, at the origin of the emblematic music of the video game saga. This meeting between Gans and Yamaoka already feeds the hopes of a project even more respectful of the original material. On the production side, Return to Silent Hill is carried by Victor Hadida (Davis Films), Molly Hassell (Hassell Free Productions) and David Wulf, with funding provided by Davis Films and Ashland Hill Media Finance. International rights are managed by The Veterans.
The release of the film is part of a wider recovery strategy of the Silent Hill license, orchestrated by Konami, notably with the highly anticipated remake of Silent Hill 2 on consoles. An obvious synergy that should seduce both longtime fans and neophyte spectators.
