Christmas break training was expensive for the Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars violated the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement by holding practice on December 26.

The NHL club Dallas Stars has been fined $100,000 for violating the league’s collective bargaining agreement. Dallas held voluntary workouts on December 26, after the series was on a short Christmas break.

The NHL’s collective bargaining agreement expressly prohibits all practices, including travel, on December 24th, December 25th and December 26th.

– We had a voluntary exercise. The team’s young players participated in training, the head coach of Dallas Peter DeBoer told.

The Athletic reportedthat the NHL will figure it out. In addition, Dallas is conducting an internal club investigation of the events.

Dallas is not the first club to have violated the NHL’s collective bargaining agreement. The Toronto Maple Leafs were fined $100,000 in 2022 for players traveling on December 26. The Philadelphia Flyers were fined in the 2014-2015 season for their contract-breaking travel.
