Do you think you are eligible for the Christmas bonus this year? Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Paid each year by the Caf, the Mutualité sociale agricole (MSA) and France Travail, the Christmas bonus helps the most precarious households to cope with exceptional end-of-year expenses.
What is the Christmas bonus?
According to the CAF website, this is state aid paid to certain beneficiaries of minimum social benefits.
In fact, only people benefiting from the active solidarity income (RSA), the specific solidarity allowance (ASS) and the retirement equivalent allowance (AER) can claim this bonus.
Its amount also varies depending on the composition of the household (without children, 1 child, 2 children, 3 children, 4 children and more…).
Last year, single people with child(ren) were able to benefit from an additional increase. A specific system, which should probably be renewed in 2024.
Good news for all French people suffering from administrative phobia: payment of the Christmas bonus is automatic and no action is necessary.
However, make sure that your personal information (RIB, family situation, etc.) is up to date in yourMy Account Area.
The payment date of the 2024 Christmas bonus
If no official announcement has been made, the Christmas bonus is generally paid on December 15.
In 2024, it is very possible that the bonus will be paid on Monday December 16 since the 15th falls on a Sunday.
As for people who became beneficiaries in December, they will only receive this additional boost from January.
The amounts of the 2024 Christmas bonus
