Christmas at the Sheepfold at Landgoed Heidestein is a concept. “I’ve been working here for eight years and it was long before that,” says Amanda Manten of Utrechts Landschap. Today she functions as a flying chicken. “Selling hot drinks, soup, helping out in the shop, anything.” Amanda is holding her daughter, who is a little tired, in her hand. Big tears flow down her cheeks. “These are busy days, including birthdays, you know it,” laughs her father. Eventually the waterlanders dry up and the little girl wants to tell what was the best thing today. “The donkeys, because they are so soft.”
