Christiane Taubiras great nephew arrested with cocaine the ex minister reacts

Christiane Taubira reacted after a member of her family was arrested by the police in possession of 10 kilos of cocaine.

Tuesday evening at Cayenne airport in Guyana, an individual was arrested while transporting “a little less than 10 kilograms of cocaine”, according to information from Le Figaro, which relies on a source from the Cayenne prosecutor’s office. . This individual is none other than the great-nephew of Christiane Taubira, former Minister of Justice under the presidential mandate of François Hollande. The man was in possession of a considerable quantity of drugs, valued at nearly 300,000 euros. He was preparing to take a plane to Paris-Orly when he was arrested.

Christiane Taubira knows that this arrest and the activities of her great-nephew could have repercussions on her person. The former socialist Minister of Justice has always been considered by the right-wing and far-right opposition as being “lax” with delinquency and lacking firmness in its penal policy. She therefore wanted to react, through her entourage, contacted by the far-right media Frontières.

Christiane Taubira thus made it known that she had had “no recent contact” with her great-nephew and that she “firmly condemned” the latter’s actions. A close friend of the ex-minister added to the same media: “If the facts are proven, he will have to assume all the legal consequences. It is a private matter in which Christiane Taubira is in no way involved.”
