The focus school in Nyköping is criticized by the Swedish Schools Inspectorate as it has a so-called well-being rule which means that students are not allowed to show that they are with someone so that it is visible during school hours.
The school that has a Christian foundation of values means that you do it so as not to make anyone feel excluded.
Serious consequences?
When the Swedish Schools Inspectorate conducts interviews, children in the lower grades answer that you must not show that you are in love with someone. Students from higher grades state that you can be together but not show it through kisses and hugs.
Students give examples of teachers reprimanding students if the rule is broken. There are students in the lower grades who perceive that there can be serious consequences if a student breaks the rule.
Learn to function in society
According to the principal, the rule is based on the norms that exist in today’s society and for students to learn to function in society and working life.
The focus school will continue to retain the rule but reformulate it for the autumn term.
During the autumn term 2021 and the spring term 2022, the Swedish Schools Inspectorate carried out inspections of independent schools with a denominational focus. The focus school was one of the schools examined.
