Chris Hipkins is the new Prime Minister of New Zealand

The appointment of Hipkins as the country’s 41st prime minister still requires the party’s formal support at Sunday’s caucus.

New Zealand will get a new prime minister from the former minister responsible for the corona era About Chris Hipkins. Hipkins replaces the current Prime Minister Jacinda Arden’swho announced yesterday that he was resigning from the post of prime minister.

The selection was made by parliamentarians from the ruling Labor Party, and Hipkins was the only candidate. The appointment of Hipkins as the country’s 41st prime minister still requires the party’s formal support at Sunday’s caucus.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern unexpectedly announced on Thursday that she would leave her position. Ardern said she no longer has the energy to continue leading the country. He said that he will submit his resignation notice at the beginning of February at the latest. Ardern also does not intend to run for office in the upcoming election.

Ardern served as Prime Minister since 2017. When he started, at the age of 37, he was briefly the world’s youngest head of government.

Parliamentary elections will be held in New Zealand next October.
