Chris Hemsworth wants to take a break from acting, which can also affect Thor’s future
In a larger article, Vanity Fair reports on the fifth installment of the Disney+ series, in which the Thor star meets with a doctor. He explains that he carries two copies of the APOE4 gene from his mother and father, which is what it is eight to ten times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s disease in the future.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Hemsworth therefore announces that he will be retiring for the time being after the press tour for the Disney+ series and a great break with his family want to spend in Australia. An end to the acting isn’t meant to mean revealing his Alzheimer’s predisposition, but Hemsworth wants to keep that aspect in mind for his future role choices.
In the Vanity Fair interview, the MCU star is still open to a possible Thor return, but the acting break and more time to think could reshape Hemsworth’s Marvel future. Perhaps the actor will step back a bit in the future and will soon leave Thor behind after the fourth part, which generally seems pretty final. It would be the next big Avengers farewell after Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.
