Before his commercial career highlights with Superhero roles in the Fantastic Four and Avengers franchises Chris Evans began his career with films that are now almost forgotten. Even the star himself doesn’t like to think about it anymore. Our international sister site SensaCine recently picked up a GQ interview with the actor, in which Evans talks about his early days – and why being a star in the spotlight disgusts him.
Chris Evans initially intentionally played unlikable film characters
In the conversation with GQ, the Captain America actor talks about his early roles like the American Pie parody Not Another Teen Movie! from 2001 deliberately selected. He later gained a certain reputation through his role as Johnny Storm in the Fantastic Four universe Star status for unsympathetic characters to whom he continued to serve:
I came across as an asshole and they gave me asshole roles.
With the life-changing casting as Steve Rogers aka Captain America in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, public perception of Evans then changed significantly. Nevertheless, he is still a rather introverted guy behind the camera.

Chris Evans would rather be left alone than in the public eye
The GQ article explains that the star eventually left Los Angeles and moved back home to Massachusetts. Here he enjoys dedicating himself to nature in his free time. In the interview, sentences from: Evans as a nature lover quotes that sound like this, for example:
The fact that trees are green blows my mind.
Just this year, the star was in the MCU blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine in his Fantastic Four role as Johnny Storm aka Human Torch returned for an entertaining multiverse appearance. After his big Captain America finale in Avengers 4: Endgame, the actor prefers to devote himself to new projects in his career.
His upcoming projects include the action comedy Red One – Christmas Alert alongside mega star Dwayne Johnson. The festive blockbuster will be available on Amazon Prime streaming subscriptions on November 7, 2024.
