Far away from the Marvel cosmos, Chris Evans led the revolution in the dystopian science fiction film Snowpiercer. The story tells of a train that… during a global ice age travels around the earth. The last surviving humans are on board and are strictly divided into classes.
Over the course of history we see the oppressed emerge from the back of the wagons Fight forward step by step. It’s actually pretty clear: just like the train, the plot of Snowpiercer only moves in one direction, namely forward. Lead actor Chris Evans still lacked perspective.

A few days ago, GQ published a video interview with the actor, who in recent years has been primarily known as Captain America was seen on the big screen. Evans also reviews his other films in the interview. Here’s how he remembers Snowpiercer.
When I wrote the script [zu Snowpiercer] read for the first time, I didn’t fully understand it. I asked myself, ‘So what?’
Apparently he had to get used to the world of film first.
Whenever it’s a world-building film, you create a completely unique environment. There’s a kind of presumption that you have to say: ‘Okay, everyone just accepts that, is it just like that? Nobody is outraged that this is the structure? That’s just the norm, okay.’

What helped him a lot was that relationship of trustthat he met director and screenwriter Bong Joon-ho (Parasite) while working on the film.
When you work with someone who knows exactly what they want, even if it’s not exactly how you saw it, it builds trust. And as an actor it is the most important thing is to trust the director. Otherwise you’re just playing on the defensive.
Evans’ insecurities are hardly noticeable in the finished film. He’s rarely been this good as the main actor. Snowpiercer is definitely one of his best roles.
