Several Chinese citizens have been discovered at sensitive facilities in Norrland, according to information to Aftonbladet.

Drones with a large value have been seized, according to the information.

Several people have been turned away with re-entry bans.

In recent weeks, the police have received alarms about unauthorized people with cameras at several protected objects in Norrland, according to Aftonbladet’s information.

Among other things, it concerns a radar facility in Västerbotten, the harbor in Umeå and the mine in Kiruna.

According to Aftonbladet’s information, the police suspect that Chinese citizens filmed the facilities.

Advanced equipment to a large value has been seized, according to the information. Including drones.

Banned from returning

The police confirm that they have checked a number of non-European citizens at various locations in northern Sweden and that a report of a violation of the Protection Act has been drawn up.

Five of those checked have had their Swedish visitor’s visa revoked after providing information that led to contact with the Swedish Migration Agency, the police write in an email to Aftonbladet.

“In light of the fact that these people now lack a visa, the consequence is that they no longer have the right to stay in Sweden, and the Police Authority has thus decided on rejection and a re-entry ban to the Schengen area. Against this background, a decision on detention has also been made. None of these are suspected of crimes,” the police write in an email.

Tourists and test cars

According to the police, several people have also been checked without action.

“In most cases, the checks have not resulted in us having any reason to question their stay here, for example, they have had documentation proving that they were here as tourists or to test cars,” the police write.

According to the police, no one has been detained in the case.
