The MMORPG Tarisland clearly doesn’t have an easy time with Western players. Chinese operators Tencent and Level Infinite are now trying to get you to sign up with all sorts of rewards – including an iPhone, an Android smartphone and $100 gift cards.
How would Tencent encourage me to register for Tarisland? Those responsible for the MMORPG entice people to pre-register with milestones and a raffle. The community can achieve the following milestones:
What about the raffle? Anyone interested can complete a few tasks related to pre-registration via the official website to increase their chances of winning a nice prize in a one-time raffle. You can take part in the raffle until June 21, 2024.
A total of twelve attempts to participate in the competition are possible – here’s how to increase your chances:
More than just a WoW clone? Tarisland in the trailer:
You can win these rewards in the raffle:
By clicking on “One-time competition” you can immediately check whether you have won something. The author of these lines has secured the title once and the pre-registration package four times.
In other words: First come, first served. When all physical prizes are gone, you no longer have a chance of winning.
Why is Tencent doing such a raffle? On the one hand, this could be because Tarisland has not yet been able to build up any hype in the Western market. The Chinese mega-corporation does not enjoy a very good reputation in this country. In addition, Tarisland will also appear on mobile devices in addition to the PC and at first glance seems like a cheeky WoW clone.
The shitstorm surrounding the payment model that arose during one of the last test phases was certainly not very helpful. The developers apparently have a different understanding of Pay2Win than large parts of the Western community.
On the other hand, it has been clear for a few days that World of Warcraft will return to China. Without WoW, Tarisland would have found a large gap in its important home market in which it could have made itself comfortable without competition.
Now the MMORPG is faced with the enormous task of somehow luring players from the WoW to the Tarisland servers in the long term – something completely different calibers have failed at this over the years. Do you think the raffle can change that?
