Chinese alternative to WoW introduces a powerful class shortly before the second beta

The MMORPG Tarisland introduces you to the warrior class in a trailer. You get to see a lot of lore and gameplay. However, the reactions are directed at completely different things.

What kind of game is this? Tarisland is an MMORPG from the Chinese studio and publisher Tencent and is considered their answer to WoW. From a purely graphical point of view, the game with its comic style is at least reminiscent of this model.

The game is Free2Play and, despite the in-game shop, is supposed to have no pay-to-win at all.

Tarisland is starting its second closed beta this month. We summarized everything about this in a previous article.

One of the seven possible character classes is now presented in a short trailer. You can see everything about the warrior in the following video:

What does the trailer show? The trailer introduces the Warrior character class. In addition to some information, you also get to see a few gameplay scenes.

As explained in the trailer, the people of Tarisland developed the melee tactics of sword and shield. The warriors use their footwork, agility and strength to force their opponents down.

The warriors in Tarisland can specialize in the damage class – and thus become melee DPS – or the tank class. Thanks to the special dual specialization in Tarisland, both would be possible together.

You can then see the warrior in action in the short gameplay scenes. Above all, the differences between the two specializations become clear.

If you have made the warrior a melee DPS, he will throw himself at the huge opponent with two swords and headfirst with a charged attack

As a tank, the warrior places particular emphasis on protecting himself and his fellow warriors with his shield, as can be seen in the gameplay. The tanks attract the aggression of the opponents in order to distract them from their fellow combatants.

Players show little reaction to the warriors, but their gender

What are the reactions: The reactions in the comments via YouTube are rather mixed.

Some users write similar to user-mm4ok5mm8m that they are very enthusiastic and are looking forward to the game. However, you don’t read many opinions about the class presented.

Instead, in what feels like every other comment, players are demanding that the game’s gender lock be lifted. This ensures that warriors are only male or magicians are only female.

Coudegracetm5090 asks, among other things, whether it is that difficult to remove the gender lock.

In general, this really seems to bother a lot of players, as is clear from the comments. Jey_Em writes: “Imagine if they just drop a bombshell and remove the gender lock in the 2nd closed beta without notice. Well, just my idea…”

User HSmarc reacts to this with his answer: “I have no problem with the gender lock, I have no idea where the problem is. If you want to play a girl, be a magician, if you want to play a boy, be a warrior, that’s easy.”

But then user Neandernaut naturally asks the important question of what you should do if you want to be a female warrior.

What do you think of the class presented? What is your opinion about the gender lock? Feel free to write your opinion in the comments.
