Chinese Premier Li Qiang will not hold a press conference as the Great People’s Congress ends at the end of the week.

However, there will be more occasions when journalists can ask questions to ministers and other representatives of the government, and also the nearly 3,000 delegates at the congress, according to spokesperson Lou Qinjian.

– If there are no special circumstances, the Prime Minister’s press conference will not be held in the next few years, he says without elaborating on the issue further.

Normally, the traditional press conference is one of the few occasions when one of the country’s top politicians answers the media’s questions.

The People’s Congress opens on Tuesday and runs for the rest of the week.
