China to build nuclear reactor for space missions

The Chang’e 3 lander seen by the Yutu rover. To hold out during the lunar night, which lasts 14 days, it uses an RTG (radioisotope thermoelectric generator), a system close to the nuclear reactor. But it is Russia that supplies China with RTG so far. © CNSA
